Sparkling Sangria

My best friend always makes the most delicious things for me. She is seriously an awesome cook (I'm really looking forward to sharing some of her recipes). Sometimes though, we just spend a lazy afternoon with a tasty sip. Her sangria should be world famous, it's so good. Loaded with fresh fruit and brandy, it's so tasty and summery. So last week I wanted to have a turn creating a tasty beverage for her.
Since this year has been such a great peach year, I knew I definitely wanted to incorporate some fresh slices with some bubbly. I used a Moscato from one of my favorite brands of wine, their website is here. This recipe also calls for a homemade simple syrup, which is basically equal parts sugar and water heated on the stove top.

All you need is:
1 cup fresh washed blueberries
2 ripe peaches
1/3 cup organic granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
Zest of 1 lemon
1 bottle of sparkling white wine
1 1/2 cups ice

1. First make the simple syrup. In a small sauce pan heat sugar and water together, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Turn off heat and add lemon zest. Allow to cool.
2. Once the syrup has cooled, pour it into a pitcher then add ice. Then slowly add the sparkling wine. Lastly, add the fruit.
3. Give it a stir, pour and enjoy!
